Weekend of Revenge in England
Manchester City beat Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA cup to knock the blue side of London out of the competition. Stefan Jovetic and Samir Nasri both scored on either sides of half time to set up a repeat of last year’s final with defending champions Wigan Athletic who knocked out Cardiff City. Manchester City’s victory comes just few days after their home unbeaten run came to a halt following Chelsea’s win at the Etihad in the Premier League. Arsenal on the other hand defeated Liverpool in a tight contest which saw Many penalty shouts turned down by Referee Howard Webb. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski scored on both sides of half time before the latter was adjudged to have fouled Luis Suarez in the box. Steven Gerard slotted the ensuing penalty to ensure a nail biting finish to the tie. Arsenal next host Everton in another expectedly tight affair.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all back in Champions league action with Arsenal to host Bayern, Chelsea to face off with former start striker Didier Drogba in Galatasaray, Manchester City to take on Barcelona and United to play Olympiakos.
